The St. Bernard Award – Kyrie Irving

Beginning this week, The Website High Atop The Thing will occasionally bestow The St. Bernard Award to various people and groups who, by their behavior or words, mange to create an avalanche of stupid.  This facilitates us having to send out the WHATT St. Bernard, Belvedere,  to dig us all out of the piles of stupid.

This week, The Website High Atop The Thing dispatches Belvedere to dig us out from idiotic ramblings of Kyrie (pronounced kai-REE) Irving.  He is a Duke University drop-out who stands to make $18.8 million during the 2017-18 NBA Basketball season playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

On the February 17th episode of the The NBA’s “Road Trippin’ with R.J. and Channing” Podcast, Kyrie proclaimed that the Earth is FLAT.  You can listen to the podcast starting at this section of the conversation beginning here.

He justifies his stance with this tidbit.

“For what I’ve known for as many years and what I’ve been taught is that the Earth is round, but I mean, if you really think about it from a landscape of the way we travel, the way we move and the fact that can you really think of us rotating around the sun and all planets aligned, rotating in specific dates being perpendicular with what’s going on with these planets and stuff like this … It doesn’t come back. There is no concrete information except for the information that they’re giving us.”

SO…  here we have a jock who thinks he’s smarter than EVERY SINGLE ASTRONOMER EVER.  facepalm  What you see above and hear in the link is an example of what 18.8 million bucks gets you; 100% pure, unadulterated stupid.

Now take that into consideration for a moment then consider the following picture:

mark-dinan-high-school-math-and-science-teacherThis is Mark Dinan, High School Math and Science Teacher at the Pasadena Waldorf School in Pasadena, California.  He doesn’t make $18.8 million dollars.  According to, the 2013 average salary for a California teacher was about $68,000 per year.

Kyrie Irving – a college dropout, paid $18 million to run up and down a gymnasium trying to put a big orange ball into a round, metal hoop.

Mark Dinan – a Caltech graduate, paid somewhere around $68,000 per year and given the responsibility of teaching your children and and giving them the tools they need to be upstanding, productive members of society.

So Kyrie Irving…  The Website High Atop the Thing is PROUD to give you The St. Bernard Award for excelling in adding to the avalanches of stupidity that make our nation look exactly as stupid as it seems, necessitating being dug out by underpaid, under recognized people who work hard to make a better world.

Stick to basketball and keep your thoughts to yourself, would ya?
